ARAN'S NATIONAL CANDLE LIGHT VIGILS FOR ANIMALS HITS 30 TOWNS AND CITIES IN IRELAND
Print E-mail

From Letterkenny to Limerick, from Dublin to Drogheda, Cork to Carlow, Kilkenny to Kerry, and many more in between,
people and groups all joined together and took just a meagre one or two hours of out their time to support our special Candle Light Vigils to support International Animal Rights Day (IARD) to finish off on what has been a hugely successful year in terms of campaigns and education in our efforts to end animal abuse. Pictures to various vigils are still coming, however, we have attached over forty images in the Facebook Album link below. Don't forget to also click on the Youtube video link of Drogheda's Vigil where they had a lovely supporter signing for the animals - it's touching. Cork's attendance was one of the biggest with roughly 45 people, Kilkenny another 40 people, Clare 22, Dublin roughly 40, all well supported. People were coming and going. In total there was 30 vigils organised with Belfast and Carrickfergus having to cancel their vigils because of events outside of their control unfolding in the last number of days. Images to various events are available on ARAN's Facebook pages.

We are planning on making this an annual event for the animals and will be arranging another date for 2013. ARAN would like to thank the organisers of their respective towns and cities and we would also like to thank the other animal rescue groups who took part and arranged vigils in their town to support the event. Together we can do so much more.

The biggest lesson we've learned here is what we can do when we work together and what we can achieve when we all just give one or two hours out of our time when events like this come up. However, there still is a huge amount of apathy out there and until we can get rid of this lack of will to get out on the streets and support these events and actively raise our voice, then animal abuse will continue to thrive, and please believe us when we say that. Please make 2013 the year you commit to taking more active action to fight animal abuse in a peaceful and educating manner.

Thank you for your support, because without you there would be no ARAN.
