Many thanks for providing that information to myself and my husband last night, we have

both decided to go vegetarian, we needed a reality check and your information helped us do just that. — A couple from Scotland attending the Morrissey Gig in Dublin on Saturday night.

What another fantastic week of action for animals it has been, this time with world famous 'Morrissey'! Yes, the staunch, outspoken animal rights campaigner and world-class musician, who is loved by legions of loyal fans the world over. With roughly 4,000 people attending his sell-out gigs at Savoy Theater in Cork and Vicar Street in Dublin, it was a perfect opportunity to reach huge numbers of people with our pro-vegetarian, vegan and animal rights message and with a team of three groups of volunteers who couldn’t have done a better job! See some footage of the Cork information table, click here

In Cork, a team of four volunteers manned ARAN’s table, distributing hundreds of Vegan starter kits, talking with Morrissey fans about animal rights, providing them with information, accepting their donations and encouraging them to get active, the entire night was a huge success and what made it a night to remember was hearing Morrissey singing ‘Meat Is Murder’ whilst playing footage of 'Meet Your Meat' in the background to a huge screen that showed hundreds of his adoring fans just what he thinks of factory farms, slaughterhouses and the flesh of a dead animal.

In Dublin, over a two night period, a team of seven volunteers manned our information stand, again speaking to dozens of fans, distributing hundreds of vegan starter kits, signing people up to help ARAN’s campaigns and encouraging people to get active. Again, for two nights in Dublin Morrissey sang ‘Meat Is Murder’ whilst playing yet again ‘Meet Your Meat’ slaughterhouse footage that his hundreds of fans could not avoid, at one stage Morrissey was seen crying as images of the animals in slaughterhouses caught the eye of everyone in the building, shortly after our information table was overwhelmed with people wanting to learn more. This is now our third time tabling with Morrissey and have done so back in 2004 and 2006.

Thanks to ARAN’s hardworking, dedicated and committed campaigners and activists, we can be at any side of the country speaking out for animals along with creating a whole new world of change, and of course despite hard times, it’s thanks to ARAN’s donors and a special group of monthly-giving donors who enable all this positive change. We could never be the voice we are if it were not for our kind, committed and loyal members and supporters – an army of people who all give a damn.
